Green Bay wins at Celtic Media Festival

4th April 2014

Green Bay has carried off one of the top prizes at the 2014 Celtic Media Festival.
'Barry John - The King' won the Torc for Best Factual Single.

The category was the most hotly contested at this year's Festival, with more than 70 entries from six Celtic countries, and a shortlist of fourteen outstanding documentaries.

Producer/Director Dylan Richards and Executive Producer John Geraint received the award in St Ives, Cornwall - one of only four Torcs presented at the Festival's glittering Closing Ceremony.

'Barry John - The King' is a portrait of rugby's first superstar, his world-beating achievements on the field of play, and the contrasting life he leads today. The distinguished International Jury proclaimed that it was a programme each one of them would have been proud to have made.  'Barry John - The King' was first broadcast in March 2013 and the Executive Producer for BBC Wales was Elis Owen.

Previous Green Bay successes at the Celtic Media Festival include 'Burton - Y Gyfrinach' which won the Jury Prize last year, and 'Gem y Ganrif' which scooped the Spirit of the Festival Award in 2006.
