Grierson shortlist for BAFTA - winning Carwyn

12th August 2010

Green Bay's powerful drama-documentary for S4C on the life of the great
Welsh rugby coach Carwyn James has been shortlisted by the Grierson Trust
for the British Documentary Awards. The awards - which commemorate the
pioneering Scottish documentary-maker John Grierson - salute the very best
documentary film-making from the UK and around the world.

CARWYN was a double winner at this year's BAFTA Cymru awards, winning the
Best Documentary category, with Dylan Richards named as Best Director,
Factual. The feature-length documentary also scooped the top prize in the
sports category at this year's Celtic Media Festival.

Executive Producer, John Geraint said ' The Grierson shortlist is recognised
throughout the industry as the gold-standard of quality. To reach this
pinnacle of achievement in documentary with a Welsh-language production
speaks volumes for the ambition of S4C in commissioning us, and for the
compelling directing of Dylan Richards, which complemented a wonderfully
lyrical script by T. James Jones. We are proud of the programme and look
forward in partnership with S4C to continuing to earn international
recognition for documentaries which champion Welsh stories'
